Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to Michigan Released Inmates and its statewide reference material. By browsing, using a search feature, or following a resource link, you agree to these conditions. If you do not accept every term, do not use the site. Public custody and release information can change, and access to an online source does not remove the need to verify identity, status, and dates with the Michigan office that created the record.

Private reference only. Michigan Released Inmates is privately owned and has no affiliation with a government body, sheriff, jail, or corrections department. Neither this site nor its advertising partners offers a service covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The material may not be used for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another FCRA-covered purpose. This resource helps visitors locate Michigan release-record and offender-search sources. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

Nature of the Service

Michigan Released Inmates is a private reference with no governmental authority. It does not hold official records, control OTIS or MI-VINE, confirm whether a person is in custody, order a release, alter a sentence, or file a document with any agency or court.

The site serves as a statewide umbrella for release-record and offender-search resources. It directs visitors to MDOC systems, Michigan courts, county-level sites, sheriff-held records, federal locators, and third-party research tools. A link is a route to another source, not an adoption of that source’s content.

Acceptable Use Rules

Visitors must use the site and any information reached through it lawfully and responsibly. You agree that you will not:

  • violate federal, Michigan, or local law while using the service;
  • use information to stalk, harass, intimidate, or threaten any person;
  • base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on site content;
  • seek access to an account, server, network, or data without permission;
  • operate bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools; or
  • interfere with access, security, or normal use by another visitor.

No Consumer Reports

Michigan Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not offer background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports. Its advertising partners do not provide screening services through this site. You agree not to use information found here or through its tools for:

  • hiring, firing, promotion, or any employment decision;
  • tenant selection, lease decisions, or housing screening;
  • creditworthiness, lending, or insurance pricing;
  • licensing, permits, or eligibility for a government benefit; or
  • any other purpose regulated by the FCRA.

Links Beyond This Site

Links may lead to county jail rosters, sheriff pages, OTIS, MDOC, MI-VINE, MiCOURT, BOP, ICE, legal-aid resources, county subdomain sites, or outside search providers. Michigan Released Inmates does not endorse or control their content, privacy practices, data quality, prices, availability, or security. Review the destination’s terms before using it.

No Warranties

The site and its content are supplied “as is” and “as available.” No promise or warranty is made concerning:

  • accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or continued publication;
  • uninterrupted access or availability at a particular time;
  • freedom from errors, defects, malware, or security weaknesses; or
  • the scope or completeness of a partner’s search results.

Michigan custody data can lag or omit records. A court order and physical release may occur at different times, projected dates may change, and the same name can identify more than one person. Nothing published here is an official statement from MDOC, a Michigan court, a sheriff, a jail, BOP, or ICE. Confirm the record with its originating office.

Limits of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Michigan Released Inmates and its owners, operators, contributors, and service providers are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss arising from access to, inability to access, reliance on, or use of this site or a linked resource.

Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Michigan Released Inmates and its owners, operators, contributors, and service providers from claims, loss, liability, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights.

Intellectual Property Rights

Site text, graphics, logos, organization, and code belong to Michigan Released Inmates or its content partners unless another owner is identified. You may not reproduce, publish, distribute, modify, or exploit that material without prior written permission or another right granted by law.

Revisions to These Terms

These Terms may be changed at any time. A new version takes effect when posted on this page. Continued use after posting means that you accept the revised conditions.

Suspension or Termination

Access to all or part of the site may be restricted, suspended, or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice. This right includes action taken to protect security, service availability, legal compliance, or other users.

Michigan Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute relating to the site or these Terms must be filed in a court with proper jurisdiction in Michigan.

Severability

If a court finds one part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms stay in effect. The affected provision will be limited or adjusted only as much as needed to make it enforceable where the law permits.
