Why This Reference Exists
Michigan custody records are public in many settings, but they are not held in one database. A person released on bond, after time served, or following dismissal usually needs to be traced through the sheriff that ran the county jail. A sentenced state prisoner may appear in MDOC’s Offender Tracking Information System with parole or discharge status and the dates tied to those events. A federal prison release belongs in the Bureau of Prisons system. Immigration detention follows an ICE route.
This site serves as the statewide umbrella above Michigan’s county-level released-inmate resources. Its purpose is to help a reader choose the right official system, understand what a status means, and reach the county that holds a local booking or release record. It does not merge agency data or create a new public record. Each linked office remains responsible for the information it maintains.
What the Site Provides
The statewide pages separate current custody, physical release, community supervision, and final discharge so those events are not mistaken for one another.

A released person normally leaves the jail’s current roster. That absence is not proof of freedom. A transfer, writ, hold, hospitalization, escape, or death can also close a facility entry. The agency record and the legal event must be checked together.
Limits of This Service
Michigan Released Inmates is privately run. It has no affiliation with MDOC, a Michigan sheriff, a jail, a court, the Parole Board, BOP, ICE, or any other government body. It cannot access a private case file or act for an agency. Official custody and release facts must come from the office that created the record.
- We cannot release, detain, move, or transfer a person.
- We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds for someone.
- We cannot provide legal advice or interpret an order for a reader.
- We cannot promise that an agency’s address, fee, hours, or public data has not changed.
Only the responsible sheriff, MDOC, court, or federal agency can confirm custody, charges, transfer, release, supervision, or discharge.
